Japan’s Super GT championship rolls back into Sepang on Fri 18 – Sat 19 Jun 2027 for the only round on the 2027 calendar held outside Japan. The action lands at Petronas Sepang International Circuit. Sepang’s 2026 round was cancelled. This return puts the series back on the map for fans who have waited a year to see the GT500 and GT300 machines battle in the Malaysian heat.
What to expect
Two days of track time featuring Japan’s premier GT categories. The GT500 class fields carbon-tube chassis with 2.0-litre turbo engines from Honda, Nissan and Toyota. GT300 brings a mix of FIA GT3 homologated cars and the series’ own “Mother Chassis” builds. Practice and qualifying sessions fill Friday before Saturday’s feature race. Support races and paddock access rounds out the programme, though the final schedule sits with the organiser.

Getting there
From central Kuala Lumpur the drive takes about an hour in normal traffic. Race day turns that into a much longer haul, so leave early. By train, take the KLIA Ekspres from KL Sentral to KLIA in 28 minutes, then catch a taxi or an official race-day shuttle to the circuit. Shuttle details are posted on the circuit’s website. Group transfers can be arranged through the front desk on request.
