Williamsport, August 30 — The story begins with a dominating performance by Curaçao’s pitching staff, which overwhelmed Nevada en route to a decisive victory in the 2026 Little League World Series championship game at Lamade Stadium. The game was a highly anticipated matchup between two previously unbeaten teams: the Paseo Verde All-Star team from Henderson, Nevada, representing the U.S. bracket, and a team from Willemstad, Curaçao, representing the international bracket. At its heart, this game was a testament to the skill and determination of the young players involved.
A sharp rise in Curaçao’s momentum came when Juriënsly De Windt hit a game-changing 3-run double, putting the game out of reach for Nevada. Curaçao’s pitching staff, including a 12-year-old pitcher described as a ‘flamethrower’, kept Nevada’s hitters off balance throughout the afternoon, showcasing their impressive skill and composure, often referred to as ‘Curaçao cool’.
The Road to Victory
Nevada’s loss was historic in one respect, as Carsynn Meyer became the first girl to ever appear in a Little League World Series championship game. Despite falling short, the Henderson team’s run was widely described as a notable achievement and part of Nevada’s emergence as a youth baseball power.
Nevada’s head coach, Edwards, reflected on the team’s work ethic after the defeat, saying, ‘You have to wake up early, you have to get to the field, you have to put the reps in.’ This dedication to their craft is a significant factor in the team’s success, and for those involved, it is a valuable lesson that will stay with them throughout their lives.
A Milestone in Broadcasting
The broadcast itself also marked a milestone, as Karl Ravech called his final broadcast for ESPN, ending his tenure with the network after being laid off in July during a round of job cuts. This event is a significant moment in the world of sports broadcasting, and it will be interesting to see how the network moves forward. As the dust settles on this year’s Little League World Series, fans will be watching to see how these young players develop in the years to come.
With their impressive skills and dedication to the sport, it is likely that we will see many of them again in the future, and for those involved, the experience of playing in the championship game will be a memorable one.
Looking Ahead
For now, Curaçao’s victory will be celebrated, and their perfect run through the tournament will be remembered as a remarkable achievement. As we look to the future, it will be exciting to see how these young players continue to grow and develop, and what the next year’s Little League World Series will bring.
