Oregon vs Portland State streams free on DAZN for international fans

Tokyo, August 31 — The University of Oregon announced on September 18, 2024, that its upcoming football game against Portland State will be streamed live on DAZN at no cost to fans in Japan and other international markets outside the United States. The partnership involves the University of Oregon, the Big Ten Network, and the streaming platform DAZN, marking a content expansion initiative. As part of this arrangement, DAZN will receive weekly in-season programming titled “Ducks v.

Them” and additional social content from Oregon’s football program. The Big Ten Network will also contribute an episode of its documentary series “The B1G Trip,” which follows the Tokyo delegation and features footage from a coaches clinic conducted by Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and live 7-on-7 exhibitions for Japanese youth at the American School in Japan.

The Tokyo outreach event occurred during the university’s visit to Japan, where coaches demonstrated route concepts and offensive strategy while players engaged with local youth. Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens stated that the initiative builds on momentum from the Tokyo showcase and aims to grow international fan engagement through collaborations with DAZN and the Big Ten Network. The move reflects a broader effort to distribute college football content globally, with DAZN serving as the primary platform for international audiences.

The University of Oregon, a member of the Pac-12 Conference, scheduled the game against Portland State for September 18, 2024, and the streaming access will be available across DAZN’s international footprint.

Tokyo Outreach and Documentary Expansion

The coaches clinic at the American School in Japan brought the Ducks’ offensive philosophy directly to young athletes in a hands-on setting. Footage from those sessions formed part of the Big Ten Network’s documentary episode, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how American college programs are building ties overseas. The collaboration extends beyond the game itself, embedding Oregon’s brand into a narrative of global sports diplomacy.

DAZN’s role as the exclusive international broadcaster removes financial barriers for fans in Japan and beyond, allowing live access to a Pac-12 matchup without subscription fees. This marks a shift in how college football reaches global audiences, prioritizing accessibility over geographic exclusivity.

The arrangement also positions DAZN as a key distributor of branded content, including the weekly “Ducks v. Them” series, which blends match highlights with cultural commentary.

Strategic Momentum in International Growth

Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens emphasized continuity, noting that the initiative builds on the energy generated by the Tokyo visit. Coaches and players engaged directly with Japanese youth, reinforcing a commitment to cross-cultural connection. The partnership with the Big Ten Network elevates Oregon’s visibility within a broader collegiate sports ecosystem, aligning with efforts to strengthen international fan bases ahead of future media cycles.
