Sky Sports is going all-in on Scottish football this summer. Every single match from the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Scottish Premiership season will be broadcast live. That is four days, eight games, one broadcaster.

It starts Friday, July 31, and runs through Monday, August 3. This is not the usual staggered coverage.

Sky has bought the lot for that first weekend. The deal means fans who do not hold a season ticket can still watch every side in action. For a league that often plays second fiddle to England’s Premier League, it is a rare moment of total visibility.

The opening fixture carries weight. Derek McInnes takes charge of Rangers for his first league match.

He walks out at Tannadice Park to face Dundee United. Kick-off is 8pm. McInnes replaces a manager who left the club in transition.

Rangers need a strong start. The board will expect nothing less. Hearts arrive at the weekend as last season’s runners-up.

But they arrive without a manager. The search for McInnes’ replacement continues.

They travel to Aberdeen on Saturday, August 1, at 5:30pm. That follows a 3pm kick-off between St Mirren and Falkirk. St Mirren now have Craig McLeish at the helm.

Falkirk will want to prove they belong in the top flight. Sunday, August 2, brings St Johnstone back to the big stage.

They host Kilmarnock at 2pm after winning promotion. A 4:30pm match follows. Hibernian, who qualified for the Conference League, face Motherwell.

Motherwell are managerless. That is two clubs, Hearts and Motherwell, entering the season without a permanent boss. Uncertainty lingers.

The weekend closes Monday night. Martin O’Neill’s Celtic begin their title defence at home to Dundee.

Kick-off is 7:30pm. Celtic won the league last season. O’Neill has built a squad that looks capable of repeating.

Dundee will hope to spoil the party. Beyond the opening weekend, the fixtures sheet has its landmarks.

The first Edinburgh derby lands on September 2. Hibernian host Hearts. That match always carries heat, regardless of league positions.

The Old Firm meetings are set for September 20, January 2, 2027, and February 27, 2027. Three chances for Rangers to close the gap. Three chances for Celtic to assert dominance.

This all-live opening weekend matters for a simple reason. The Scottish Premiership often struggles for attention.

English football dominates the airwaves. Sky’s decision to blanket the first round of fixtures gives every club a national platform. It raises the profile of the league.

It tells sponsors and broadcasters abroad that Scottish football is worth watching. The league needs that.

Crowds have held steady. Television revenue has not exploded. Clubs rely on gate receipts and player sales.

A strong broadcast product helps. So does a competitive season. Celtic are champions.

Rangers want to reclaim the title. Hearts want to build on last season.

The rest want to survive and grow. McInnes at Rangers. O’Neill at Celtic.

McLeish at St Mirren. Three managers with something to prove.

Two clubs without a manager at all. A league that starts with every game on television. That is the landscape for July 31.
