Kia Seltos vs Tata Sierra: Which Midsize SUV Offers Better Value

Kia Seltos

ISLAMABAD, June 27 — The midsize SUV segment in Pakistan has a new contender that is already making buyers think twice before signing on the dotted line for the Kia Seltos. The Tata Sierra, which launched in November 2025, has crossed 10,000 deliveries and early findings suggest it is giving the established favourite a serious run for its money. The price gap between the two is surprisingly narrow at the entry level.

The Sierra starts at Rs 11.49 lakh ex-showroom, while the Seltos begins at Rs 11 lakh. That difference of roughly Rs 50,000 means the brand badge matters far less than what each car actually delivers for the price.

Both SUVs span a wide price band, with the Seltos ranging from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 19.51 lakh and the Sierra going from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh.

Engine Options Are Closer Than You Think

On the engine front, Tata offers three 1.5-litre choices: a 104.5 hp naturally aspirated petrol, a 158 hp turbo-petrol paired with a 7-speed DCT, and a 116.3 hp diesel that makes up to 280 Nm. Kia counters with a 111.4 hp petrol, a 158 hp turbo-petrol DCT, and a 112.4 hp diesel available with either a manual or torque-converter automatic. The turbo-petrol outputs are nearly identical on paper, so this is not really an engine question.

The encouraging part is that the real difference comes down to gearbox feel and refinement, something patients — or in this case, buyers — should experience on a test drive rather than judge from spec sheets alone.

Where the Sierra Pulls Ahead on Features

This is where the Sierra makes its strongest case. It offers a triple-screen dashboard, a panoramic sunroof that Tata claims is the largest in its segment, a head-up display, and ventilated seats for both rows. The boot space is a generous 622 litres, notably larger than most rivals.

The Seltos counters with dual 12.3-inch displays and a 447-litre boot. It has spent years as the default pick in this segment, but the Sierra is clearly trying to change that equation with a stronger feature set for roughly the same starting money.

For anyone currently torn between these two, the advice is straightforward: take both for a proper test drive, pay attention to how the gearbox feels in real traffic, and compare the cabin space and features side by side. The numbers on paper only tell part of the story, and the encouraging part is that both cars give buyers solid options at this price point. Talk to your dealer, check the waiting periods, and make the choice that fits your daily driving needs.
